Carbon Purification Systems from Serfilco are a simple, economical
and efficient method of removing organic impurities from electroplating
or other chemical solutions.
Carbon Purification Systems from Serfilco connected to your process
and enjoy full or side-stream flow of your process solution through
the carbon purification system on a continuous or intermittent
basis. Select carbon purification systems with replaceable carbon
cartridges or a chamber that has removable and refillable carbon
canisters.
The choice of the Carbon Purification Systems from Serfilco method
depends on tank size, amount of carbon required, and other filtration
equipment that may be available. Generally, carbon cartridges
are used on tanks up to a few hundred gallons; bulk or canister
type granular carbon for several thousand gallons.
We have found a good "rule of thumb" for carbon sizing to be 1
pound of carbon for each 100 gallons to be treated. In terms of
flow rate, 5% to 20% of total system flow will be gently introduced
on top of a granular carbon bed and allowed to slowly traverse
down through the bed, out the bottom and back into the tank, thus
keeping organic impurities in check.
A pre-filter or complete filtration system upstream of the carbon
purification systems is strongly recommended to protect the carbon
from contamination by the efficient removal of solid impurities
that could render the carbon inefficient. Carbon life is extended
if only clean solution comes in contact with the carbon. Change
carbon only as necessary. Depending upon the organic level (ppm),
1 or 2 months of operation is not unusual. |
